Artist statement
In my artistic practice, I focus on the themes of trauma and memory, within which I approach the understanding of identity, both personal and social. One of my methods is direct photography, which allows me to remain in the position of an observer who does not interact with the object of observation and does not make changes to the observed situation. I use the walking method as a study of the territory, living with its body, bringing ritual practice to this method. In my work, I often use photography as an object, which allows me to explore boundaries this medium. In the project «Ignored Space», slits are made in the sections of photographs pasted on the dibond, into which polyethylene, wire, cotton wool, steel mesh foil, wire are inserted. In this way , a space is formed that violates the original plane and allows the photo to enter three-dimensionality. In the work of The medium is the message, the main medium is dust, and the maps created with its help can be considered as mental maps, looking for some meaning in them. In this way, you can look for meaning where it simply cannot be. In photographic practice, the combination of storyteling and walking methods allows for a deeper understanding of the connection between people and territory and to explore to what extent physical space affects emotions, patterns, the way an individual and a group of people think and live
